Mirk Branding Case Study

Hip/hop & R&B powerhouse pushes their forthcoming album with an entire

re-branding, complete with a new website.

Mirk is a 6-piece genre-bending group from Albany, NY (for whom I play drums). So naturally, they come to me for a graphic design.

With our new album nearing completion, we've entered the next step prior to releasing; marketing! The album has a new sound for us, so I wanted to take the imaging to a new place before. In the past, our logos and artwork was like our music; layered and detailed. Any any point, there was at least an a dozen different things happening, as can be see in our official "Grind" album artwork. It was busy and heavily effected. It was awesome.

But our new album, "Run" is different. Its a lot simpler; more bare bones than previous releases. And I thought, "Hey man, I like, dig minimalism. The artwork should reflect the sound...man" So there it was, so simple. A big circle with big, smooth and crisp san-serif transparent font.

Below, see our new online image. I created a new website with a background video header with clips from live shows and music videos and simple, to the point content. Like any good site, its better when it makes you money. Once the album and merchandise is released, the center of the site will open up for a click-and-pay web-store that will keep visitors on our site and make buying music and merchandise only a click away. I also made the group business cards for promotion and booking.
